Stones Throw. The J. Dilla production gives me chills.

Silvania, from Peru, started off as shoegazers in the early 1990s, then went Seefeel-style ambient electronic in the mid-1990s - Autechre remixed 'em. They seemed to break up to reform as electro-pop duo Ciëlo, something of a Junior Boys-before-the-Junior Boys. This track came out on a 2004 Ware compilation. It starts with a sample of the Velvet Underground's "Candy Says", dubs it out, brings in a sing-song melody, eventually a distant voice. Pop ambient at its best.

For anyone in need of a lift. This is the B.side of Get the message and is very of it's time, but the sheer playful abandon of the production by two masters of 'the pop song' is an absolute delight.Cool and cutting edge it may not be, but rarely have I heard a more joyful racket.

Side project from 1989 for a well known Australian pop singer that sounds quite different from his regular group. He sings this song with more conviction, feeling and emotion than anything he ever did with his regular superstar band. I swear this lyric sounds like it was written for current state of America in 2005. Mixed by Todd Terry.

Takes the best of M.I.A. and merges it with normally dubious The Bravery to one of the best mash-ups I've heard this year. It has a sort of sad quality. Brought to you by San Franciscos Rebel DJs, at whose homepage you can find more worthwile mash-ups.

A resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, who has a rather incredible one-man-band style set-up, using electronic keyboards, drums and a Chapman Stick (lead and bass guitar in one). His tracks aren't exactly masterful or well produced, but they have a massive amount of character, catchy hooks and are often hillarious.

From their new album 'Takk'.Wherein Sigur Rós cheer up. AND THEN SOME. Glorious is no overstatement.

mward, from oregon. quality tune ; enjoy the ride ..

This is a mash up of a song by Will Oldham (here performed by Johnny Cash featuring Oldham himself on backing vocals). Acid Pauli is of course Martin Gretschmann aka Console of The Notwist and 13 & God fame. The song won numerous prestigious polls in Germany for best song of 2004. I think it's just that. Unfortunately the record this track comes from is out of print (Mixed Bizness - The Munich Mash Up Issue 12'') so that you will have to stick to the excellent versions by Will Oldham himself or by Johnny Cash (it's on Solitary Man, I think). Enjoy.

Super tight Instrumental Funk Bongo soul ect. Ping Pong Orchestra "Music and Rhythm " (Ubiquity 2004)http://www.shawnlee.net/

Anyone willing to call their new album 'Come On Feel The Illinoise' gets props from me. This track is off Sufjan's said masterpiece and is overwhelmingly sad and yet also beautifully uplifting. Listening to it for the first time kind of reminded me of when I first read Dave Eggers' Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.

Not a new track nor THAT donna summer (and he's not even "donna summer" anymore, but now just plain ol' Jason Forrest), but I post this track for two reasons...One, it came up on random on the old iTunes playlist, but also because I'm hoping someone can identify the source material. Can someone PLEASE identify the source/melody that kicks in around 1:09 (and again at 2:47) between the two chunks of Scorpions c0ck-rockin 'n' beatz.I've had this song kickin' around for years now, but it still sounds great. Might be of my favorite collage track. Fun stuff... this one goes to ELEVEN.

the geto boys rap about necrophilia, raping, ..re-raping, murder, and the list proceeds. Bushwick Bill, one of the members, a dwarf, was shot in the eye by his girlfriend; which, photos of that event landed themselves as album art on a prior LP. video link: http://www.musicremedy.com/audio/2443

This is some 60s Pastor who tried to get through to hippies by "speaking their language." It is almost unbearably interesting.

this is a kind of sophisticated flat eric tune. slower, but contains more funk, beats and ACID. it was released on the extraordinary imix mini lp from earlier this year. made my day the first time i heard it and will everytime.BUY the vinyl-version and scratch/reverse the bassline!!! http://atom-heart.com/

I miss the KLF. They were so entertaining.

This is an old favourite that I have loved for years. Very much of it's time, the big bassline being a particular signiature of remixes by Andy Weatherall in the early to mid nineties. Boney M samples, bleeps, large break beats and of course that knarley bassline.

My judgement is definately seriously clouded by deep nostalgia on this one but I thought I'd post it in reponse to the Meat Beat track posted the other day.

I found this remix on SLSK searching for Esplendor Geometrico, a spanish industrial group from the early 80s.
the're good, but i liked this remix better that the old EG originals.... a 12+ minutes groovemonster, very deep...
very intricate rhythm programming and very long (but still not long enough tho)

For slugsby, see the Acid Pauli track below. Cool downtempo electronica combined with´vocals from Jonny Cash

This is a very pretty song that I've been listening to for a while and now they've got an album out on One Little Indian. There's a nice combination of ambience and melodic simplicity.

a worst quality lovesick slowmotion rave mash-up someone i know did contains hasir (live@rex paris) by modeselektor and survivor by destiny´s child.

- wanted to lighten things up a bit with a fancy rendition of ambient dream chillout music.  With little to leave wanting after a trip of Ernie Lake's mixing skills, this track is funtional in its existence, and serves well to bring the listener out of it, to "everything is fine".  "Whats your sign?" is the title track would-be {From the Hamptons to Ibiza -24hr oddessy} to a mix of sensual compositions; with song titles like "House of Luv" and "Seduced" you can hardly go wrong if you want chill.

since gabba has been dead and Most new Rap sux, here's another absolute classic. Jeep Ass Nigga RMX from the 1992 5 track maxi single ,that if you had in your ride made you the man. If you don't know, Masta Ace is another corner stone figure in the hip hop community. A Brooklyn based MC from the 80's Juice Crew. This is that uncut raw..

B-pop, subdued new wave for monday morning.

More Euro, some italo disco from 1983, full of cheap drum sounds and package holiday accents, perfect.

The last euro hit for now, This is currently riding high in the dutch charts, an almost accidental hit from the usually underground Clone records, and produced by gabba favourite Semour Bits, the Dutch/Gibberish lyrics are a lot less annoying than James Mutha f**king Blunt..

Lushly produced but laid-back J-Pop of the most heavenly kind. The video features the charming Halcali girls dancing around in Christmas tree costumes.

Bought this when it originally came out based on a review I read in a magazine. I was not disappointed by this subtle masterpiece. Nocturnal, melancholy and romantic would best describe this, the title track and the recording as a whole.

From Eddie Highway. mendez socal

Challenge to the floor.. This track (from 2001's 'Midnight Magic' LP) is by no means perfect, but man, does it have one MOTHER of a bassline, (if you can, play loud on fist listen for full effect) I've heard this standing next to a BIG p.a., 'mummy my tummy feels funny'... Care to trump it?

In response and inspired by 1friend's BDP post, here is the soundtrack from THAT bit in 'La Haine'. If you haven't seen it- it's fantastic. If you have - you already know all about Cut Killer (Veteren French Scratch DJ) doing his cameo bit - turntable juggling KRS One and Edith Piaf out the window of the tower block. Beautiful moment.

Japanese 80's new wave pop. Often called the Japanese B52's. Stereo Total recently covered their track "I Love You Oh No", which is used in a SONY DVD Cam commercial.

Quoting from the Freund-innen site: "Finnish mastermind Timo Kaukolampi, 1/2 of the ex OP:L BASTARDS, teams up with some friends for a new project called "Motiivi:Tuntematon" and delivers the most intense soundscape that you can find on a record this summer! James Holden is already a big fan and voted it one of the tracks of this year. Play loud!" 'Nuff said

J'yeah, Huge grime track, I missed out on posting anything from amazing Gunz and Roses mixtape whilst gabba was down, so heres a new Ruff Sqwad production, nice and stripped down, nice n ruff, nice n short, nice and UK..

This is more from Belgium, since tracks from Benelux artists seem to be quite popular with the gabba crowd. And a crowd pleaser it is, this little epic, hymnlike masterpiece from 1998. Still sends shivers down my spine. I think I first got in contact with this one on Ken Ishii's X-Mix? Anyway, enjoy!

This is from the Soundtrack to Buffalo 66 by Vincent Gallo one of my favorite films. It's the part where Vincent walks into a strip club to assassinate the field kicker who missed that field goal all those years ago. This tune is great up til about 3:30 where the dodgy lyrics kick in, so I've cut it out just so you can listen to the good parts. The music is performed by YES.

This makes me twitch in a most satisfying manner. Not disimilar to Isolee. Perhaps a touch more urgent. Longest title yet posted?..

Here's yet another remix of the famous Tocotronic track, this time in a very melodic mood. Released in the DJ Koze aka Adolf Noise album "Wo die Rammelwolle fliegl" (please buy it). Summer Ambient!

Following on from some of the recent soundtrack posts here is a formative moment for a teenager in the eighties ...

Prime sequencing by Chrislo Haas from 1981. Chrislo was also responsible for the beats on the second DAF album ("Die Kleinen und die Bösen") on Mute. He sadly passed away last year.

Freaky robotic electro track by the dutch producer Like a Tim, heavy flangered snares over a bass-pulse changing direction halfway thru the track... all very simple and minimal but o so effective. this comes of a limited edition 12 inch called "13" which celebrates 13 years of like a tim music.

I saw this innovative group of Norteño Techno producers live recently and the crowd was going nuts! They're from Tijuana and make dubby germanic house with Mariachi band samples that works magic on the dancefloor. Check em out if you haven't already.

Slim Thug, then Mike Jones, then Paul Wall with a crapy chorus in between. The most energetic flow by mike jones, and wall's got some lines fo sho.. if u havnt heard this yo !

Soulful track turns in hip-hop madness by the grace of Madlib. I've heard this happen many times before.
