From their forthcoming album, I don't really know what I can say except that it's IMMENSE
Nathan Fake's new album on Border Community feels like Boards of Canada - and that's not the kiss of death it sounds like, really. This track starts out like Pluxus and then veers off into shoegaze territory; it reminds me of that great Pluramon album from a couple years ago.
La prohibida is a relatively well known (locally that is) glam transvestite in Barcelona who likes listening to kraftwerk and thinks robots are s3xy.
She sometimes makes cheesy electropop music at night that she plays at clubs in barca. In daytime she works as a hair stylist...
My ears like it when singers make weird noises. This track comes early in the 2005 mix, "Rvng Prsnts MX4: Crazy Rhythms," by Dan Selzer and Mike Simonetti. It's an awesome mix with some great 'italo-disco' tunes, although they include a lame mix of Dinosaur L's "Kiss Me Again." It turns out, Klein & M.B.O. are still around as N.O.I.A., and have a myspace page with 4 great songs
here.
1981 - IT italo disco. Indeed very cheesy. rare.
No apologies for posting more Max Tundra, my only apologies are for weeing my pants when I first heard this.
It's my birthday and it's too effing cold! so this seems just the ticket... thanks to banana nutriment.
german techno legend "der dritte raum" produces extremely "clean and clear" electronic music, yet it never lacks of a certain forwarding groove.
this track is an excerpt of his newest album on resopal.
Oops, I've wet my pants again. From a new compilation of entirely new tracks featuring, amongst others, Hot Chip, Kid Koala and Sufjan Stevens...
loved the original of this (downloaded from here a couple of years ago) but i found this remix in a clearance bin yesterday and it's filthy. appologies for the unimaginative post but there hasn't been any thing REALLY great that i've heard lately thats been worth posting. also, that white noise is on the record not my bit rate. hope you like.
Far too quiet here lately, like Andre I haven't found much post worth music lately, or maybe I've just found too much and the good stuff isn't surfacing quickly enough. So anyway, in absence of new tracks, here's a lost
Factory classic, high energy manc house from '84.
There's alot of hop hop in Beijing. This track is from a compilation from Dragon Tongue records. It's sort of an all star track with MCs from all over China. It might be old news to some of you, I don't know. But I really like it... .
Enjoy.
imogen heap is the singer of "frou frou", this track is taken from her solo album "speak for yourself". simplicity - never thought i'd love a vocoder effect so much.

sorry about all the info on the previous track, i'm a bit fried.
would really like to hear what you guys think of my madness?
Sora creates warm, glitchy music sampling his jazz and bossa nova records to make them sound like bossa nova from the future.
It grows with every listen.
I like Sebastian and I like Justice. Kavinsky likes them too I think because he's french and plays a lot of video games and watches italian horror films. As far as electro goes, that's what I'm looking for. The whole Teddy Boy EP is really a blast and all you DJ's out there should take the opportunity to drop it on an unsuspecting public.
I couldn't find any info on this particular artist that calls himself simply, "brother".
I just set my itunes to show me the shortest track on my library and this one sprung out. It's a lovely song that sounds like a tiny insect robot working. Hope you like it.
I'm sorry for the lack of information on the artist, any clue about him comes highly appreciated.
A groovy little bass-driven funk dub number crammed with percussion, synth horns and multi-tracked vocals.
Released on the On-U Sound label on a 10" single in 1993. Throughout her career she has collaborated in various capacities with Lee Scratch Perry, Adrian Sherwood, Andy Warhol, members of Crass, Coil and Nurse With Wound.
As usual, brilliant stuff from On-U Sound.
Arch. The Monochrome Set are the kind of band to dig out with
Josef K when you run out of
Franz Ferdinand records. This is a strange calypso/punk funk pastiche, but I've mainly posted it because of the title, I think if I ever had to name a magazine/club nite/clothes label/web site/kitten I'd call it Apocalypso, its nearly as perfectly aggressive and vague as "gabba".
Following the calypso theme, here's a different kind of calypso pastiche from 1967, a frenetic and slightly crazed organ and horn driven work out, I get the feeling this is only going to sound as it should played from a scratched 7 inch on huge speakers mounted to the back of a lorry. (
The b-side to this a version of "Sound Of Music" theme, 1000 points to anyone who can post it!)
I have all the gabba users as witness that jk owes me 1000 points.
Sorry for the mistep on the last track, didn't noticed it was deffective. Here you go again. Really nice track.
So where's my 1000 points, jk?
East meets West on this masterful set to often overlooked when considering the best dub albums of all time. Japanese percussionist Pecker (often a collaborator with the Yellow Magic Orchestra) approached none other than Bob Marley with the idea of doing a dub/reggae album, and although Marley doesn't appear on this album, he hooked Pecker up with some of the best musicians in Jamaica (including Sly & Robbie, Augustus Pablo, Rico Rodriguez, Mikey Chung, Carlton and Aston Barrett, and Earl "Wire" Lindo), culminating in this stunning showcase.
I was looking underwater for my zombie shark. This is a track off the solo project from the lead singer of LA's The Bubonic Plague and um I just love it. Good lyrics, infectious grooves, general weirdness.
Electro dub. Sly and Robbie in a slightly less earnest "world dub" guise, and all the better for it. Raw bass and bleeps, straight outta the circuit board..
French pop that goes straight for the jugular and then piles on the choruses, oh yeah, alright!
bump bump! More 'pop', this time some Bobby Brown style perky-proto-disco for the weekend..
Guilty pleasure alert. Ridiculously c0cky lyrics over great beats. Stop, stop some more.
This duo is pals with Daedelus-I say its Ratatat meets the Crystal Castles. The song is plain good times. Like the kind of dates people list as enjoying in a personals ad; ie getting cotton candy from a vendor in the park, laughing in the rain on a beach in autumn, drinking mulled wine in sweaters by the fire and so on. When the chorus hits, its like a montage of all that. All I could find of theirs was this remix I linked below but they got a myspace page too.
Digital Dub? Dub Reggae? Not quite sure what the exact pigeon hole for this kind of music is, but it's good stuff. Most of the album ("Dubz From De Higher Regions") from this Leeds based soundsystem is fairly standard (but nevertheless enjoyable) dub with plenty of echoy MC'ing and whatnot, but for me this track stands out with its crazy looping electronic squeals, four/four-ish beat and earth shattering bass. YMMV, but it's a lot of fun, and a great way to test out that new subwoofer :) (Reuploaded to YourFileLink, hopefully better)
Delicate, floaty electronica, vaguely reminiscent of the sound of people like Nathan Fake. Just the right amount of clickyness combined with subtle layers of melody makes for quite a soothing listening experience. From the fantastic “Problem/Solving” album, but also freely available on the “Soulseek Period 002” album from
www.archive.org
Not sure if this is an 'official' mix (can't find any reference to it) and if it is and it's too risky, sorry jk, do take it down. But man, is this just too funky not to pass on like a dirty purple rash..
Moldover is a Brooklyn-based mash-up DJ. This file is huge - 85mb - and was recorded during a live set he did at Warper. His ability to play Ableton Live (some sequencing software) like an instrument is without parallel. He performs at SxSW and Burning Man doing crazy things. There are some classic moments here, like when he segues from the Beastie Boys over Tom Petty into Janis Joplin over AC/DC. A set for laptop nerds everywhere.
A little bit of nostalgic romance from Richard Howley, an Acoustic version of Darlin' from the Lowedges Album
In my opinion there aren't nearly enough pop songs about vegetables. Here's one from 1983 by nicely turned out italo duo Stargo. Bonus points if you can tell me exactly what they're going on about.

By now, I'm sure most are familiar with the Knife and their charming 'Heartbeats' tune from a while back. This is not that single. Taken from a recent OneMusic session, this version completely re-envisions the original, turning it into something far more dark, cinematic and yet strangely resonant. It could just as easily be the soundtrack to a teenage suicide in an unfilmed John Hughes movie as it could be the soundtrack to your darkest moment. Absolutely devastating in its stark, despairing beauty, this is one of the most powerful recordings I've head in a long, long time.
This is the first released track from the upcoming EP from She, sir, a band recently relocated from Iowa City, IA to Austin, TX. She, sir seeks to further and expand upon the tradition of sonic experimentation in the indie rock scene. The band is known for its noisy guitars, unconventional tunings, and its soft and washed out vocals. Though the band draws mainly from shoegazer and dreampop roots, the tempi and drums of She, Sir are decidedly upbeat.
Good stuff from Sweden. Haunting repetitive melody - can't stop listening to it.
I love the edit that the pharmaceutical executive did for this song, makes it sound so kinky and let's be honest, the grateful dead have never sounded this good before.
Found it in one of my favorite mp3 blogs (after gabba, of course):
http://www.bumrocks.com.
Heard this out recently and was bl0wn away by the acid and so for the first time in years I swallowed my pride and asked the dj who it was (utter trainspotter..). Its been a long time since that sound got me so much. Anyway, by chance I was given this today so here you go.
Curtis Jones will not be new to the gabba mass but I really like this track, I'm a sucka for those Nitzer Ebb/DAF basslines. Anyway the good man has made this and a few of his older songs available on his myspace page. See
http://www.myspace.com/greenvelvetmusic His new album "Walk in Love" is inline the high quality bangin techno we've come to expect from him. You can buy it online from the link below.
Old-skool goth revival. Piano Magic awakens from their laudanum-induced slumber, sees all the kids dressed in black at the local mall, and decides to show 'em how it's done.
The Lune makes a lot of noise for a trio, what with a collection of accordions, washboards, violins, harmonicas, and trumpet. You should download this if you like trumpets or good songs.

NYC skacore moves north to Ottawa, Canada where the B-Squad take an obvious page from influences leftover crack, but offer a more rooted dub focus. I saw these guys play a show once. Two of the four member's instruments broke in the first song, and they spent another 10 minutes freestyle rapping before they gave up on the notion of playing the show.
when i listen to this track, i picture a bunch of stoned hipsters sitting around playing vintage nintendo games, listening to the silver apples and talking about american hip-hop. "you like the neptunes? yeah me too." And then clipse comes on like the biggest music nazi in the room and puts everyone in their place.
Mariachi folk with a touch of jazz.
saw this xxjfg the other day and now it's on my daily to-do list. falke and braxe turn this smooth jam into an arena rock anthem.
Hawksley Workman is an Ontario artist who performs unique, emotion invoking songs about things that probably really matter. He had minor success in Canada years ago with the song 'Jealous of your cigarette' which did well on Muchmusic. He typically plays shows in churches, opera houses like Massey Hall, and generally anywhere he can get good acoustics and a comfortable atmosphere. Just released a new album, however, the album Lover/Fighter is my recommendation.
I've been following this Danish octet since I first heard their debut album two years ago and I'm finding their third album,
Samme stof som stof, their most focused and eclectic effort yet, they're still not quite there but they've proved once again they still have many tricks under their sleeves.
If you really must know before you listen, they sound like Bjork collaborating with Dirty Three.
